- Seal every 6–12 months with a penetrating (impregnating) sealer; bathrooms and wet rooms lean toward the 6-month end
- Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, lemon, bleach, and acidic bathroom sprays will etch the surface
- Wipe spills promptly; on vanities, keep cosmetics (perfume, toothpaste, citrus skincare) on a tray
- Choose honed finish where the surface will be touched daily — matte surfaces show etching far less than polished
